Swara Kokila and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar were cremated with full state honors at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Before his funeral, the three armies saluted, then his brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar lit him.

Veteran singer and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar is no more with us. Lata didi said goodbye to the world on Sunday morning at the age of 92. Lata Mangeshkar was lit by her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar amidst chanting of pundits at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites were performed with full state honours. During this, people from many fields including politics, sports, entertainment world participated in this last journey of Lata ji.

Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral was attended by her family members, cinema stars, all veteran leaders and fans. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached Shivji Park where he paid a heartfelt tribute to Lata didi. During this, all the veterans including Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, CM Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Sachin Tendulkar and Anupam Kher had reached Shivji Park to pay tribute.

Be it Indian film music or any other musical, Lata Mangeshkar’s name will always be remembered in the context of modern India. People believed that it was the thing in his voice that words of praise should fall short. And most importantly, she was a great singer as well as a kind hearted person. That is why she was called Lata Didi of the whole country.

In his voice, O people of my country, Zara aankh mein bhar lo paani… The patriotic song salutes the martyrdom of the soldiers, which brings tears to the eyes of every countryman even today. He sang this song in memory of the Indian soldiers who died in the Indo-China war (1962).

Lata ji sang songs for almost every occasion and situation, which must have helped in the career advancement of many artists from different generations. But the color of glamor of this dazzling film industry never dominated them. She was from a very simple family and she considered herself an ordinary woman all her life and she used to do so. Whenever you remember her image by closing your eyes, she will be seen in an off-white sari with a light border. A soft smile on his face, as if giving blessings to the person in front of him as a grown-up. And he maintained this image till the end of his life.

Lata Mangeshkar was honored with several awards for her phenomenal contribution to films. Lata Mangeshkar was also honored with Padma Bhushan Award in 1969, Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989, Padma Vibhushan (1999) in 1999 and Bharat Ratna in 2001. She remained unmarried. Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer and the priceless gem of India, is a role model for all and her life is an inspiration to many. The number of fans of Lata Mangeshkar, who touches the hearts of the audience with her melodious voice, is in lakhs. Lata Mangeshkar’s demise marks the end of a golden era in the music world.
