The United Nations Security Council is due to meet privately subsequent week to talk about a call by Afghanistan’s Taliban-led administration to ban feminine humanitarian help employees, diplomats mentioned Wednesday.

The closed-door assembly was requested by the United Arab Emirates and Japan for Jan. 13. The UAE introduced the request in a tweet.

The ban on feminine help employees was introduced by the Islamist Taliban-led administration on Dec. 24. It adopted a ban imposed earlier final month on ladies attending universities. Girls had been stopped from attending highschool in March.

U.N. help chief Martin Griffiths is due to go to Afghanistan within the coming weeks to meet with Taliban officers.

The United Nations has mentioned that 97% of Afghans reside in poverty, two-thirds of the inhabitants want help to survive, and 20 million folks face acute starvation.
