A 21-year-old Indian from Punjab was killed in a deadly automotive crash in Australia’s Canberra, a media report mentioned.
Kunal Chopra from Hoshiarpur district, who held a scholar visa in Australia, was returning from work round 7 am when his automotive collided with a concrete pumping truck on William Hovell Drive in Canberra final week, SBS Punjabi, a multi-cultural and multi-lingual broadcaster in Australia, reported.
According to the preliminary investigations, Chopra’s automotive crossed to the incorrect facet of the highway into the trail of the city-bound truck.
Chopra was introduced lifeless on the spot.
This was Canberra territory’s first highway fatality for 2023.
Acting Inspector for Road Policing Travis Mills mentioned the foremost collisions staff continued to analyze the accident of Chopra, who arrived in Australia in February final yr.
“We are heartbroken, and his family back home is shattered and inconsolable,” Honey Malhotra, a cousin of Chopra who stayed with him in Canberra, instructed SBS Punjabi.
Malhotra mentioned he was making preparations to ship Chopra’s mortal stays to his household in India.
Friend and group consultant, Gurpreet Singh Gill, mentioned the tragedy has left the tight-knit Indian group in Canberra in deep shock.
“We are in touch with his family, and also with the Indian High Commission, which is helping with the repatriation of his mortal remains to India,” Gill instructed SBS Punjabi, urging younger college students to stay vigilant on the roads.
