Surajpur. A commendable initiative is being taken by the Women and Child Development to make the malnourished children malnutrition free in the district. Parents of malnourished children are being taught the tricks of foster care in the nutrition schools, so that the parents of the malnourished children get excited and participate in such schools. Taking such initiative of women and child development, villagers have appreciated with free will. A target has been set to make 12,000 malnourished children malnutrition free in the district.

Under the direction of Collector Gaurav Kumar Singh, seven hundred nutrition schools are being run across the district, where parents of malnourished children are being taught the tricks of good foster care. It is to be known that not only in the state but across the country, Surajpur is such a district, where nutrition schools are being run for eutrophic management through behavioral change. This innovation of women and child development has brought awareness among the people and they are playing a meaningful role in making a malnutrition free district by joining this campaign. After the immense success of Chiranjeevi Abhiyan in the district, the Women and Child Development Department set a target to run the Suposhan Abhiyan and it is being successfully conducted in the district through Suposhan Pathshala. In collaboration with the Health Department, through Health Friday, on the first and third Fridays of the district, more than four thousand Chief Minister Children’s Reference Camps are organized in the Primary Health Center and Community Health Centers in the Primary Health Center and Community Health Centers in a time frame of one month. Health check-up of malnourished children has been done and medicines have been distributed to them. In primary health centers and community health centers including more than 80 sub-health centers of the district, all moderate and severely malnourished children of that area and their mothers were not only health tested and medicines and nutritious food are being distributed as per the requirement. Information about the nutritional status of each child is being recorded in their nutrition monitoring register. Taking innovative initiative by the Women and Child Development Department, by identifying the areas with the most malnutrition in the district, ‘Suposhan Pathshala’ is being operated for the first time in the state. Where through books and calendars, cleanliness including nutrition, personal cleanliness as well as the method of taking care and rearing of children to food diversity, protein, vitamins and importance of nutrition garden is being made aware by giving practical knowledge. .

District Program Officer, Women and Child Development Chandrabesh Sisodia told during the meeting that the nutritional level of malnourished children in the district is being monitored continuously and is being recorded in the nutrition monitoring register. Undoubtedly, the positive results of these efforts will be seen after the next few days. He said that in the Suposhan Pathshala, eggs and chikki have been made available to the children in the form of nutritious food through the nutrition box.
