The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday fashioned a seven-member committee, together with M C Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt, to probe the allegations of sexual harassment towards Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by high grapplers.
Besides legendary boxer Mary Kom and wrestler Yogeshwar, the panel additionally consists of archer Dola Banerjee and Indian Weightlifting Federation of India (IWLF) president Sahdev Yadav.
The determination was taken throughout IOA’s emergency Executive Council assembly which was attended by the likes of Abhinav Bindra, and Yogeshwar together with IOA president PT Usha and joint secretary Kalyan Chaubey.
Shiva Keshvan was a particular invitee to the assembly.
This comes after the agitating wrestlers had earlier within the day reached out to the IOA, demanding the formation of an enquiry committee to probe the allegations towards Singh, a day after threatening to lodge a number of FIRs towards the WFI chief.
In a letter addressed to IOA president, the wrestlers alleged monetary misappropriation (of funds) on a part of the WFI and claimed that the coaches and sports activities science workers on the nationwide camp are ”completely incompetent”.
