Gareth Bale introduced his retirement from skilled soccer final month

Former Real Madrid ahead Gareth Bale impressed on his PGA Tour debut on Thursday as he made a swift swap from his glittering soccer profession into following his ardour for golf.

Bale, who introduced his retirement from soccer in January, made his golf debut on the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California. The occasion runs from Feb. 2-5 and sees quite a lot of superstar gamers compete alongside a few of the world’s high golfers.

The 33-year-old Bale {and professional} accomplice Joseph Bramlett closed with a seven-under-par 65 to finish tied 18th on the novice leaderboard on the Spyglass Hill course.

American Hank Lebioda shot an eight-under-par 63 to steer the professional leaderboard whereas Britain’s Harry Hall (64) is tied-second.

A spotlight of Bale’s first spherical was a restoration shot off a path to save lots of par on the second gap, the BBC reported.

“It was an amazing shot,” former Wales captain Bale said. “I tried to play it into the bank and hope for the best, as all amateur golfers would.”

“It was good to see it roll up good and shut. I completed it off properly as properly. I can’t actually say rather more.”

Bale, who became a global ambassador for the Royal and Ancient (R&A) in 2022, joined actor Bill Murray, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and rapper Mackelmore among the 156 amateurs taking part in the competition.
