Services on a bit of the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line hall have been affected for a number of hours since morning because of a case of tried theft of signalling cable, the DMRC mentioned on Wednesday.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation tweeted to alert commuters.

“Magenta Line replace delay in companies between Kalindi Kunj and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Normal service on all different strains,” it tweeted in the morning.

Many commuters took to Twitter to share the inconvenience they faced on account of the delay.

“Since undertaking repair work on the affected section during operational hours would have resulted in stopping of all services in that section, it was decided that to avoid hardship to the passengers, trains would be allowed to operate with a restricted speed of 25 kmph during the entire day today,” a senior DMRC official mentioned.

The restoration work is deliberate for the night time after the final passenger service.

Access to the observe might be supplied to interchange the cables broken in the course of the tried theft, the DMRC mentioned in a press release.

“Train companies are affected between the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Kalindi Kunj stations of Magenta Line (each up and down strains) from the beginning of companies at the moment because of a case of tried cable theft on this part within the wee hours resulting in the injury of signalling cables,” it said.

Replacement of cables is a time taking process that requires full access to the track without any train movement. Passengers are being informed regularly through announcements at stations and inside trains on the Magenta Line, the official said.
