The Deputy Superintendent of Police for Devakottai and the Karaikudi Tahsildar have been transferred after a video surfaced exhibiting cops forcibly eradicating a sculpture of Periyar from a home in Tamil Nadu’s Karaikudi.
DSP Ganesh Kumar and Tahsildar Kannan each reportedly obtained switch orders from the Directorate General of Police and Sivaganga district collectorate respectively.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 29 at a resident – Elangovan’s home in Kottaiyur, a suburb of Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district. Elangovan had mounted a sculpture of social activist Periyar exterior his home.
Following a grievance reportedly lodged by BJP members on the close by police station, cops confirmed up at Elangovan’s home and alleged that he had damaged the regulation by erecting the bust with out permission.
