Amid a sudden spike in air air pollution resulting from foggy climate, the Centre’s air high quality panel on Friday directed implementation of curbs beneath stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR, together with a ban on non-essential building and demolition work.

Delhi’s 24-hour common air high quality index stood at 400 on Friday, only a notch under the extreme class.

The Sub-Committee on GRAP, at a overview assembly, famous that the AQI is prone to worsen additional in the approaching days resulting from unfavourable climate circumstances.

It directed authorities in Delhi-NCR to invoke curbs beneath stage III of the anti-pollution plan with quick impact.

If the AQI is projected to achieve the extreme class, restrictive actions beneath Stage III are to be invoked a minimum of three days in advance, in accordance with GRAP.

Curbs beneath Stage III embrace a ban on non-essential building and demolition, closure of stone crushers and mining actions in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).
