According to town Superintendent of Police (Korba) Vishwadipak Tripathi, this horrific incident occurred in the pump home colony of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on December 24, 2022. “The victim was alone in the house when the accused arrived. He covered her mouth with a pillow to muffle her screams and stabbed 51 times with a screwdriver,” mentioned the police.

Subsequently, the sufferer’s brother discovered her in a pool of blood when he arrived residence. Later, the sufferer died in the hospital, mentioned the official.

The sufferer was recognized as Neelkusum Patra. Also, preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused Shadab Khan, who hails from Jashpur District, had befriended the sufferer three years in the past when he was working as a conductor in a passenger bus.

According to official, Khan later moved to Ahmedabad in Gujarat for work and the duo stayed in contact over telephone. However, the fascinating flip occurred, when the woman stopped speaking to him, then the accused threatened her dad and mom.

While the accused Shadab felt being ditched, assuming the connection of his prey of affection with one other man, the sufferer Neelkusum stopped speaking to Shadab for his misbehaviour and relationship with many women.

According to sufferer’s household, earlier Shahbaz threatened Neelkusum for dire penalties if she would discontinue their relationship.
